Street chess in Brighton Beach

Hi. I'm going to be in Brooklyn for a few days this upcoming week and am interested in meeting chess players and seeing the street chess culture, esp. in Brighton Beach, hoping to write a magazine article. I've written several articles about chess and culture for Chess Life. Obviously NY and chess are known to go together, but it's mostly Manhattan. I haven't seen much written about chess in Brighton Beach lately. Anyone from Brooklyn / Brighton Beach interested in meeting up sometime between Thu and Sun this week? Thanks a lot.

If anyone would like to meet up, or can suggest specific places to go in Brighton Beach where people play chess, that would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Brighton beach ! 🤷‍♂️…..there’s also a Brighton beach, on the south coast of Sussex in England ! ……didn’t know there was one also in the USA 🇺🇸 🙀

Yes, I want to meet a stranger who doesn't even have a profile picture. I'm sure there's nothing even remotely dangerous doing this. Sounds like a great idea. I can't imagine why you're not getting more takers. Anyhow, I'll be at Starbucks at 1:00 on Saturday. If you don't see me at first, order something and wait. Be patient.

I respect your point of view and understand that as a woman in the modern world, you have to be vigilant. However, I have my real full name in my profile, and someone could look me up, including photos that exist online, if they wanted to. I've met, played, and interviewed chess players in lots of different countries. Not to mention that any meeting place would be public. Not to mention I also asked for recommendations of places to go.

I just read a bunch of old School Mates articles. I didn't know that you were such an amazing player back then. I've seen you around on the forums sometimes but I didn't realize that it was you until I searched your name up. Incredible!
