Credit where credit is due -- it was algernonn's suggestion.
Support Chess.com TV
we certainly intend to cover other events after this one. in fact already for half a year now we've had coverage, for example us women's championships, nanjing, london, corus wijk aan zee, etc...
the question here is about expanding that coverage. when we add extra broadcasts that only plat+diam can watch, we're not taking away anything from the other membership levels. we're just adding to the list of perks for those memberships. and we intend to continue doing so.
the on-demand videos have always been available to plat+diam, since the inception of chess.com/tv -- just scroll down and down and you'll see how far back our coverage started.
the suggestion of adding a current position box into the video does not seem practical to me. as it is, the board on which we analyze is already small enough; there is no space to divide up the screen any further. we would need an entirely different interface.
I agree with you Rainbow and I made that point in an earlier posting. It really does need a more professional looking interface.
I think I don't have option to scroll down and down :)
Also by far you explain yourself very well so as to try to discuss or whatever
, also cause I think It is reasonable to ask for plat-diamond membership to see those broadcasts as I can image the effort you put by run those. But I thought maybe the increase in the number of visitors could have brought a chance to try other formulas, so as I also think it would be most pleasent also for those who do the broadcast if they (you) can reach to a mayor audience that these things usually have. In that sense I felt the World Title was a unique chance to get so. But if it will be develop in a plat+diamond scenario it will not make a difference, and also I doubt It will even be helpful to you to catch new members apart of those who are already in.
almost it was a chance to announce yourself,

Special coverage of Anand-Topalov World Match has been brought to you by Chess.com
Oh well, I am sadly not allowed to watch Games 6 and 7 as they will be for Premium only(above Gold). I am so disappointed as IM Rensch will be hilarious and popular for sure. I was hoping my Premium was renewed by now. I will have to go elsewhere and follow at Susan Polgar's blog again. She had 60,000 followers today and does live updates with more current analysis. Her blog is of very fine quality and I follow all the World Championship matches there.

I was following her blog too, and her analysis isn't always more current :-).
I didn't mean "more current" analysis, I meant "additional" current analysis. I
might have worded that incorrectly.
Yes, I like you and GM Kraii together. It was a little more laid back than you
and IM Shankland. There was also a lot less spamming in the chat room this time, although I find the chat amusing.
Each pair of announcers has a different style. You and IM Shankland are
natural together with your clever banter and jabs at one another.
You and GM Kraii come across as more subdued and clinical with lots
of in-depth analysis.
GM Kraii and NM Sharma seem almost like professor and college student as the GM leads the discussion and the NM adds his thoughts. It works well.
Last, GM Friedel and NM Sharma seem in-between, they have some clever
humor and some clinical analysis.
Overall a success, although one can only hope the GM's will allow NM Sharma
to sit on the "GM Couch" just once before the house disbands. By the way,
who will get "The Couch"?

Ahh, yes, it is certainly that, and good analysis as well, sorry I misunderstood.
What we have currently is great...but can be improved upon. The interface needs to be upgraded for a more professional look...we also want to see the current position...and annotations of all the moves (the official site has this).
I have followed Susan Polgar's blog...it seems as though she is in Sofia...she gives you information about the build-up to the game, describing current happenings (when the lights went out), and also post-game interviews.
It would be nice for us to hear more about the post-game interviews here at chess.com.
The analysis is great in order for us to fully appreciate why certain lines were chosen, but I understand what others have been saying as well...I think it was highlighted when in game 4 Anand did the knight sac...and we were still analysing a variation...it was a pivotal point, and viewers wanted us to focus on the current action. Managing this will of course be a challenge for you.
Thanks for the service...I enjoy the coverage.
I normally switch between chess.com, susan polgar's blog, and the official site moves.... and have them all up at the same time.
Well, I think this service offers something different to that one...
And so it has not need lots of pretensions, just the chess & the fun

Though I agree that some interfaces upgrades would go a long way, they can't show the current position. If you look on the official site, it expressly forbids other sites/other people from showing the current position, and with good reason (for a good explanation of the reason, see IM Pruess' explanation in today's broadcast).
Basically, it's that the organizers of the match have put up a LOT of money to make it happen, and they want people to go to their site and see the logos of their sponsors. This, in turn makes the sponsors happy, and if sponsors remain happy, that increases the chances that more companies will sponsor more events in the future, increasing chess coverage. (I hope I paraphrased that well)
The chat window can be monitered by chess.com staff already. Kohai and others are often in there.
Sure, and I've seen tactical bans as a result of that monitoring but the problem is that without a link back to who you actually are on chess.com there's no accountability and you'll always be chasing the issue instead of dealing with it proactively. You're suggestion of limiting chat to specific membership classes suffers from the same limitation.
I think the suggestion of using the video provider only for the video and supplementing it with a chat function implemented by chess.com is probably the best way around this. That way the chat function that comes with the video can simply be written off and ignored by the viewers (and ideally, turned off altogether) and all discussion could be explicitly attributed to users' chess.com IDs and appropriate punitive action beyond just being banned from the videos can be taken to act as a deterrent instead of just a punishment.
