Very suspicious activity.

Has any member had experience with Club Ownership on chess.com?  I have been made owner of some clubs without my permission. I cannot find any reference to 'ownership' on chess.com help.

Trying to quit a club a message comes up 'You are owner of this club and cannot quit unless you transfer ownership to someone else'

I suspect it maybe a bug used for highly illegal purposes. I would really appreciate your help.  

I doubt if there is anything illegal. You are probably the only member in some of your 744 clubs. (Why do you belong to so many?) In such a situation, you probably became "owner" by default when the last other member left. Tag. You're it.

If the club is inactive, just write to support@chess.com and ask them to close the club.

If it is active, get somebody else to be SA.

Thanks. Iwill contact support re the problem. Chess.com  makes no mention of 'owner' re clubs. How does one transfer ownership to another person? 

Just guessing that if you are a special admin, you can make somebody else an admin and then quit yourself.

But just get support to take you out of inactive groups. There are hundreds with no members.
