I seemed to be in complete control of the game when the 10 minutes timed out and it gave the win to the opponent. I have no clue why that occurred.

help?

One more time.

You didnt post the game.

When you run out of time, you lose.

Sorry, didnt the opponent run out of time or is the 10 minutes for each player. I thought it was for both players for the entire game.

silly error.

sorry

A 10 minute game means both players get 10 minutes.

Tis ok.  If your goal in chess is to get better, then playing speed chess is a horrible to go about it.  Youre not giving yourself time to think.  Play daily chess if youre trying to get better.  If youre here just to have fun, then it doesnt matter.

Both sides have a certain amount of time on their clock, if the time runs out then the player whose time ran out loses, unless the other player has not enough material to force a mate to you (2 same colored bishops, a bishop or a knight) and when i started playing here 1 year ago i also played fast chess, but my suggestion is just relax and play some 15|2 or slower, it will be better for your future chess skill happy.png
