The difference between annoyance and abuse

Some people don't like forum "trolls" on chess.com, but others argue they are harmless and wish people would let them be.

It can be argued that posting troll threads is okay because chess.com members can "opt out" by not participating in troll threads or by ignoring all the trolling posters.

There are even troll groups, that advocate and organize such activity.  They have been allowed to form...this is chess.com's choice.

Then there's this group, which I think chess.com staff might not really be aware of:

http://www.chess.com/groups/view/vote-chess-trolls

This group's charter is to disrupt vote chess games in progress, by posting bogus moves, fake vote tallies, spamming the comments pages, etc.

In an OTB tournament, maybe you can joke around in the skittles room, but you can't be purposefully noisy and disruptive on the tourney floor without being kicked out...

I'm hoping chess.com is just unaware of this, not that they condone this type of behavior.

I'm posting this in the community forum because I believe this is really a community issue, and this thread might get a discussion going that will show which way the wind is blowing on this...

Our vote chess trolls group only makes inane moves in our own games. We don't facilitate bad moves in public games.

Those guys are just givin' the real ones a bad name.

So maybe it's time to kick 3816 and make things a little clearer on the group profile...otherwise any number of people might get the impression you're perfectly okay with it.

We could report the users, all of us, spam them with reports and complaints, but the thing is, they'll just make new accounts even if they get banned.

Honestly, I think the best way to go about it is just ignore it.

It's a huge community and there are always going to be guys like that around.

We are perfectly okay with it, we just don't facilitate it.

Why would they want to do that?

The difference between annoyance and abuse?  I just quit "open discussion" OD Extreme because of annoyance. I can put up with abuse. Those 2 groups are letting in all the trolls from the main forums and ChessKid. They won't engage with any topic for discussion because they are not of proper age. They haven't been to college, they haven't been in the military, they haven't been in the workforce. I thought there was an age requirement for those groups but I guess I was wrong. Who are they.?  staminapoints, josephyossi, superman, endgamestudy, lawandorder, lilboat, destiny, fennifer, etc, etc. All they do is SPAM threads, SPAM forums, argue with Staff, etc, etc. Since Erik is making plenty of money on bitcoin he doesn't need my money for THIS nonsence. 2018 is here. I may ask staff to lock my 2 threads and close my account.frustrated.png

Check the OP date.  Lawandorderking got his panties in a bunch and bumped a bunch of my old threads after I schooled him elsewhere.  This vote chess group is not very active anymore, though I am surprised at some of the members still with accounts.  Poptom should have been banned years ago for abuse of public vote chess games.

Moving on...

Yes, they bump a lot of threads from yrs ago. They don't have the intelligence to create something new on their own. No wonder staff can't provide a pleasant experience for members here. The're too busy babysitting.
