welcome to the internet
The paying vs. free community (and trolling)
I don't feel the same way as the OP. I haven't had such problems with comments. But maybe that's just me.
Looks like you have had a few bad experiences. Me not so much. Ijust turned member-itll be interesting to see if my perspective changes

So you get annoyed by a handful of "bad apples" and as a result you want to ruin a major feature of the site for the majority of users? And by the way, all chess.com members are contributing in that we view ads and play games, and post and chat. Without the free members the site would be pretty empty.
So in conclusion, grow up. Just block people who are being abusive.

If anyone else from the paying community of chess.com supporters feels the same way, please speak up, so that we may see some action taken.
Are those that feel differently, also entitled to post here? or are you only seeking lackeys?

@ Berder
Actually, the site would not be empty if you removed the ability of non-paying members to chat in other people's observed games. Any real enthusiasts would still be psyched just to watch. In fact, it would do quite the opposite of what you are saying, and serve as an incentive for more people to make monetary contribution to the site, boosting revenue.
Some people don't know when enough is enough...we don't care about hearing your ranting diamond members

what are u a "SOCIALIST".Contributions? Another great insight into the internet ! Who do u work for, a corp ? I am a chess troll for years and u know what i plan on doing the same for many more.May u find peace and a little common sense. Psssst, i have a few names for the list

Hey here's an idea, let's remove ALL features of chess.com unless you are a paying member. That's sure to boost revenue! Or destroy chess.com by driving everyone to other sites, whichever.
Well the OP seems to have a avid hate for those of us who do not pay so I won't stay but I did make a little comment about this subject in my odds and ends thread.

@ Berder.... yet again
I am not suggesting removing all features of chess.com at all, and your lack of understanding is aggrevating. My proposal is simply to remove chat in observed games for non-paying memebers... that would still allow them to chat in their own games, or with friends, or in public chats and forums. They would still be able to play chess (the primary function of this site), and participate in a number of other activities, such as the tactics trainer and daily puzzles. The only thing they would not be able to do, is talk while watching other players' games, which inherently leads to trash talking, harassing the higher rated players to challenge other high rated players or themselves, and general insensitivity which is often aimed at a difference in either nationality or race. If people want to make waves like that in an anonymous venue, they should have to pay for the priviledge to do so, it's that simple.
I am an avid supporter of chess.com
And as a paying member, I am often turned off by the general vibe of the community. My issue is mostly with the fact that people use internet annonymity to make hateful/racist/insensitive/argumentative statements while observing games (mostly master level games). The main problem, in my opinion, is that anyone can make an account on this site and say whatever they want. They can not be held accountable for their statements, because they can always change their ip address and make new accounts. The people who perpetrate these offenses are almost always non-paying/non-contributing members. I believe that chess.com should implement a restriction in which non-paying members are not permitted to chat in games that they are only observing. There are innumerous cases in which people "troll" or spam in the chat log while observing games. As a paying member, I feel as though I should not have to take the time to block every one of the hundreds of members who do this on a daily basis, just to avoid the inconvenience. The fact is, these people are leeches, siphoning the benefits of people who actually contribute to the site. They should only be allowed to chat in games that they are playing in, or with friends in private chat cells.
