The proliferation of false cheating accusations in chess is a disease.

Removed public accusations 

Public shaming is not allowed on chess.com, even of people who are fantasists and conspiracy theorists. If someone genuinely believes that there is cheating in 90% of games they will inevitably cheat themselves, get caught and banned. Block them, report them, move on and don’t let them affect your peace of mind.

There are a decent amount of cheaters. I just played a game where all the sudden right when I'm closing in on a queen, bishop, rook, pawn kingside attack my opponent plays probably the only possible line to get out of it and very quickly for the indepthness of the moves(15% of games is when I know it's cheating)THen I go search him up and the account was opened this year. So to me that's confirmed cheating. Sore loserr

Idk which has greater numbers:.Cheaters or False Accusation.

If somebody is pretty high ranked and their account is from current year. SUSPECT. Why in the world would anyone need more than 1 account. I'm now going to block everyone's that from 2024. GMs probably have used same account for 20 years. It's unfortunate the sore lovers. It's always they realize they are getting SMOKED and then BOOM better moves than before & FASTER!!! I'm only 1000 so suppose they aren't very slick since they are probably 600s kidding themselves. Takes the fun out when you play super well and then you're like "wait a second" I know I played well here and then got THRASHED for a segment of the game without plundering.Does not add up.

Instead of ignoring it, you should report those guys.

Take it as a compliment! Thats what I do! They think that you are playing SO well that you MUST be cheating! Given that you are not, they are complimenting your play!

This is just what I think, I am not saying it is ok to accuse people of cheating I am just saying that you shouldn't take it so badly.

What you're describing in NO way proves cheating or even insinuates cheating is likely. You're rated 500 blitz and 900 rapid. Your opponent happening to find a good line quickly means nothing but good chess. I honestly can't believe what I'm reading here. Share the game if you'd like me to take a look but this is the disease I'm talking about. It sounds like you had a good game of chess. I'm always very happy when my opponents find good lines, that's the reason I play chess; the pleasure of finding and falling victim to beautiful lines.

False accusations are more numerous. I don't have proof of that but it is my strong suspicion, my strong feeling, that good clean chess games are 99% of what I see on this site and that false accusations are an infection on chess. The only people cheating are probably those who falsely believe everyone else is cheating, as David from Australia said in the first comment here.

I honestly think that it is more likely than not that this is an illusion at best, a delusion at worst, and that if you don't make a great effort to get it out of your head it will end up ruining the game of chess for you. Again, I'm willing to hear you out, or look at some games you select (although chessdotcom's dedicated team of experts would be better suited for this), but I really believe that this can't be true. Having more than one account without approval is, in and of itself, a fair play violation (cheating) and you should report any instances of that that you find but thinking someone is a cheater or blocking them for having an account opened this year is a flagrant example of false accusation fever, just the same as believing they're a cheater for finding a good line, as I said before.

Sorry, maybe I am misunderstanding you: how is this post in any way insulting to you? And to whom are you referring when you say "us"? To false accusers?

Are you a person that falsely accuses others of cheating without any basis? If not, then this post is not insulting to you. If so, then please stop doing that and enjoy your chess.

Also, yes, I do report people who make false cheating accusations. I agree with you there.

Yeah, it's nice to have my play complimented in such a way but the negative effect on the game of chess is greater than any ego boost it may give me. I would venture to argue that most people who ARE cheating (probably a very small percentage imo), do so because they believe "everyone else is cheating". Hans Neiman, for example, used this excuse for cheating in a public statement he gave where he was claiming to have only cheated some time ago and only in online chess, never otb. Just imagine! A GM with possibilities to reach a world champion level! Risking his whole career over false accusation fever! As David from Australia implied above, believing everyone else is cheating makes you more likely to cheat (or rather, increases the overall number of cheaters) and is a net negative for the game of chess.

I'm very annoyed by people who assume others are cheating but let's back up. Your account doesn't look like it's banned. Why were you banned? If it was a fair play violation there would be a certain symbol next to your name. If you were banned, why would it be because of people like MikeWilson46? Just because he has false accusation fever doesn't mean chessdotcom would ban you unless they thought you really were cheating..... or did you get banned for something else? like abusive language or somthing?

What is that, a "false accusation"? Is it something that looks like an accusation but is no accusation at all in the end?

Or could it be, you meant "unfounded accusation"? Slanderous accusation perhaps?

If someone beats you, they must be cheating, right?

Because they couldn't possibly have just played better. Not possible. Ego won't let you consider this possibility. MUST be cheating!
