There needs to be a infinite time control

There needs to be an infinite time control mode. Each player can take as much time as needed to play their moves

Perhaps state in the forum, that you would like to play a normal time rated game between certain hours on whatever days. If you find someone, you can play the game normally but under some daily time format. Or perhaps on a weekend where you have plenty of time, 1 day daily game.

impatzeru

they have an unlimited time option for correspondence games on lichess. i don't see why you'd need it though, 14 days is plenty.

You must be joking. Player B gets into a horribly losing position and just never plays the next move; never ever. Player A has completely wasted his time.

Was it Kramnik who said: if you have to think longer than 15 minutes, it´s going to be a bad move? Change that to 14 days and it still holds true. Why on earth would you want to spend, say, 18 months or 7 1/2 years on a single move? Watching a dead tree rot would be more fun for your opponent.

Wow 😮 did not think about the fact it could be used for trolling

LOL---,OP hasn't thought this through---or maybe he has and is just trolling to see how many people he can get to bite on his train-wreck of an idea.

This topic is so inane it doesn't deserve further discussion. In short, no one can be compelled ,under this proposal ,to play a game to conclusion or resign. One could abandon any game for any reason without penalty. It could be possible to never have any game reach a decisive conclusion---WHICH IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHY YOU PLAY THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Daily chess:

No one can be compelled---but with time-limits that matters not, the clock makes the decision to resign your position if you can't or won't, In the internet age,no time limit games invites abuse of the mechanic.

Ye right. Let me stall the game for a whole decade is actually a real thing.

Imagine if it had its own rating it the leaderboard would be filled with chipmunks who care about their rating too much

We need some chronic troll control.

Just play 14 day daily dude. That takes basically forever

If the longest chess game happened in 14 day daily chess, it would have lasted 20 years and 227 days.
