Toxicity at high level

bro chess is a toxic competitive game where the objective is to destroy your opponent mentally ofcourse its toxic. I just dont say stuff in chat anymore so I dont get muted for a month again. Ultimately, when I play chess its to destroy the opponent the opponent isnt my friend I am there to win every single game and have no losses. Chess is a zero sum game unfortunately. During chess i am competing to be the absolute best possible. Nothing less is acceptable. Hyperbullet is ragebait because its insanely fast and less skill based and more based on time. Accept chess for what it is.

Why do you think people tilt when they lose because you have no one to blame but yourself and you just lost and they won. Loosing in chess is like the worse feeling you can feel. Winning is great however.

Would be cool if losing in chess was my worst problem

That is not the objective of chess, it's a toxic personality trait. If I lost a dozen games against you I would not be mentally destroyed. You're just ruining your enjoyment of the game and making people not want to deal with you.

Mute is your friend not these others.

Bullet players are more spastic like this than other players. I can't tell you why but it's a clear trend. Maybe the game mode has just driven them to it. Or maybe it's what attracts them. It's a crap game mode.

I think a lot of players are high school kids who haven't yet grown up or horrible adults who never will.

Growing up leads to growing old then to dying, so count me out.

Lets play some games was going to relax, but no i am just reporting the data to you. Data is data.

What is this data you speak of?

Experience from thousands and thousands of chess players and dealing with a typical chess personality. Its the same for any game at a level that is competitive. I sent you a challenge make sure to accept it.

Recently I've been playing a lot of hyperbullet (please dont judge), which made me improve arround 800 elo points, jumping me up to 2400. I know this does not represent my skill. I know i dont deserve to be this high rated. At the end of the day its just a number on a screen, many people take it way to serious tho. Especially at the high 2200s and above, where people just constantly try to insult and demotivate you. I personally believe that if one feels down they should'nt be letting their bad mood out on others. I dont remember exactly what they wrote but it was something like:
1. Do you show your fake rating to your mommy? (This has to be satire 🤣, not necessarily toxic but definitly hilarious)

2. Game ends in a win for me
Player:
Im literally crying
Me: Oh no, why are you feeling down
Player: Im crying tears of happiness. Happy that you will have to suffer eternally in hell (???)

3. (i remember this one word for word) Game ends in a loss for me Player: How pathetic, go bury urself with your hand full of tears (Why do people constantly think that one crys after they loose)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was only the case for untitled players, and i never encountered any titled players or players under the elo of 2200 doing this sort of behavior. Rather the opposite. When i made a fatal mouse slip in rapid and told the other person via chat feature that it was a mouse slip, the instantly send me a draw offer, what a legend. I dont think anyone over 2200 would have ever done that too me.

Is this the case because hyperbullet is such a "niche internet circle" or is chess at that level just in general really toxic.

I know you don't want to be judged but playing hyper-bullet isn't playing chess so you can only improv your Glicko rating wrt hyper-bullet, which isn't chess because it's simply about moving pieces fast.

Avatar of Optimissed

Incidentally, if the examples you've given are true, doesn't that mean that only people who are ill play hyper-bullet? So why are you playing it? What can you gain from it?

Think about the most famous person who plays hyperbullet…

I thought about the Chessbrahs maybe.

You're confusing the game outcome with personal interactions.
In a game that adjusts your elo based on your wins/losses it's also not possible to win 100% of games, so your attitude is just irrational.
Anyway, your argument on zero-sum games assumes chess has no inherent value. If we accept that, considering you don't get any reward for winning either (it's probably one of the least rewarding hobbies you can choose) - it's just a useless activity, there's nothing to win, there's no point...
Your attitude is akin to trying to form an ego around stamp collecting.
It explains why you feel toxic, you're devoting your life seeking gains from something that will never pay out at all.
Honestly, you should redirect your ego into something that actually lands you a reward, like your career or... really anything other than chess. Chess is only worth playing if it has some inherent value.

Bro this whole thing is delusional. Everything is pointless at the end of the day. You realize that isnt my attitude those are the facts. It is zero sum in accordance to game theory buddy. Everyone is toxic in some form or another. You clearly dont have the will to win thats why someone like myself will be a titled FM and you will not. You have to be a bit toxic and borderline egomaniacal to really want to destroy your opponent. I approach ju jitsu and everything else the same way. Guess who makes the most progress. I do. My next goal is to humble these highschoolers. They are the ones with the real ego. Why do you think tilting is thing. Why do people slam their table and break things when they lose. Because chess is an incredibly cruel game at its. Its beautiful but it is about having the will to win. It is the same when tom brady talked about never being friends with his competition he is their to absolutely crush them and to win at all costs. Thats the mentality you can have if you really focus. Obviously being toxic is not a good thing. I will probably be much stronger than you in a year or so because attitude does matter. You dont just become titled by wanting it you have to want to totally destroy your opposition totally. Why do you think levy will never be a GM

Avatar of OptimzingForwardForLife

Obviously, Im not suggesting you should be toxic, its just the byproduct of the game, its the byproduct of anything really. think capitalism you have winners and losers. Billionaires get everything and the poor us we get nothing. Sound familiar

Avatar of OptimzingForwardForLife

Its arguable that wealth envy is toxic but its only natural to want what they want and to become better and surpass them. If he had a yacht and you don't have one I think you'd get a little envious probably then start a company.

Nah, it is not an internal property of chess
