So on september 17, my chess.com membership renewed itself. Now I have a monthly membership, but I would like to upgrade it to a yearly membership. How will the money work? Would it be like I paid for the monthly and yearly? Or will it just add the diffrence of the yearly and monthly to my credit card as if I never had a monthly membership and only a yearly membership?
You are a Platinum member. You now pay $7 per month. The platinum annual membership charge is $49 per year. If you upgrade to a yearly membership, they will charge you somewhere between $42 and $49. If you look at the membership page, it will tell you how much of what you paid is available for credit on an upgrade.
Since you just renewed, if you do it now, I would guess that the charge will be closer to $42 than $49 (but I really don't know what kind of partial credit they give for monthly memberships).
At any rate, if you are enjoying the Premium access, you should do it. You will save money.
