The Ugly Reality is these homeless people are Unwanted.

yes that reality is ugly bong , ive met teachers ,  who became homeless , it can happen to anyone , and in most cases ive met human beings who are not allowed to reach their potential because they are homeless ,

this reality is not only ugly it is wasteful and no society can benefit from it

ive met those who chose to be without four walls , but instead choose a shop doorway , I think they should be allowed to exercise their free will , but most homeless ive met want a home , and can you blame them ,

I knew one lad , he had been sleeping out for two years he got into a hostel , he got an interview at Harrods , he didn't think he would get it but gave it a go ,

ive never seen a person more proud , and I still hope he works there or has moved on to the next part of his life

The government is Ungrateful. Especially to war veterans. The veterans have been used as pawns. There are huge budget for defense (and offense?), Education, Public Infrastructure, Sports but little for social welfare of homeless Citizens. Return on Investment 0?

what hasn't been mentioned is those suffering with PTSD , this whilst receiving little if any support , to me their solution lies in proper funding by the armed forces , so they can hopefully recover and live their lives as best they can , forgetting about them and leaving them in shop doorways is no way to thank them for risking their lives whilst carrying out orders

This is chess.com - we talk about anything and everything. But yes, only one of these situations requires our kindness.

Maybe the indian kid was joking...

Just for argument sake...

Should drug and alcohol abuser have free home?

Just saying...

Yes! With high walls and barb wires. They are threats to the weak.

addiction is too common these days - drugs, alcohol, gambling, socal media.  i'm sipping coffee right now - but i go without for days just to make sure.  dopamine is too rewarding to get off.  luckily mediation & deep breathing done properly could also pump dopamine.  perhaps all these people are not getting the help they truly require, just more drugs.

My proposal to help homeless people is not unconditional. They should cooperate and live without drugs and alcohol. Otherwise they enter homes with high walls and barbed wires.

You are suggesting that homeless addicts oughts to be rounded up and imprisoned?

No treatment programs? No assistance in getting clean and employed? Just high walls and barbed wires?

bong711

I'm sorry I did not make myself clear. Rehabilitation center with high walls. Forget the wires. Too many rehab patients escape so high walls are needed.

bong711

While rehabilitating from addiction, they could be trained employable skills like farming, baking, even IT to the talented.

Jimmykay

Whether there are barbed wires or not, you seem to be implying forced imprisonment.

bong711

What to do then? Tell us. Let them squat anywhere? Let them harass women for gimmes? They are unfortunate I understand. Giving them great freedom creates more problems.

You are suggesting imprisoning people who have not had a trial and are not even being accused of a crime. I do not know where you are from, but I am from a developed country with a constitution that would ABSOLUTELY forbid that.

I consider what you suggest to be an abhorrent violation of human rights.
