I couldn't find anything wrong with the file. Seems OK to me. (Verified with VirusTotal.)

mine flagged it too but more of a general policy I think.  I'd rather just see the games in the analysis board here.

Yeah, analysis board makes much more sense, but i don't understand how AV software could flag a text file as a virus. What antivirus software are you using that flagged it?

my apology, I was generalizing, it was the case that adobe™ felt the file was corrupted or damaged.

Yeah, Adobe is the wrong program to associate pgn files. You should associate a pgn file with a text editor (Notepad, Wordpad, etc.) if you normally want to edit pgn files, or associate the pgn file with a chess GUI if you normally open pgn files with that chess GUI.

P.S. And why are you even using that bloated Adobe program? Tongue Out

funny you would ask, I just got Arena last week but it is terribly complex.  Something I'm sure I'll know well a year from now but currently have no clue how to use properly.  I had wanted to ask but didn't want to appear too noobish, what is a good free program to open PGN's?  or is it that I can open them with the GUI arena?  i didn't see that option but if I knew I could I would look harder..  Also, I can either get Arena to think in like less then second or it never stops...  I want to anaylise positions and get that +/- # but don't know what i'm doing yet..

You can open pgn files with Arena, if that's what you want to do.

I'm assuming you use Windows OS? Go into the Windows Control Panel, then "Programs --> Default Programs --> Associate a file type or protocol with a program". Scroll down to the ".pgn" entry, and highlight it by clicking once on it with the mouse cursor. Then click on the "Change program..." button. Arena probably will not be one of the selections, so you'll probably have to click on the "Browse..." button and drill down through the directory structure to the Arena.exe file. For me, it's located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arena_3_0\Arena.exe", so your path is probably something similar. Pick the Arena.exe file, click "Open", then "OK". Now, the next time you double-click on a pgn file, Arena should open automatically with a prompt to load that pgn file.

In Arena, you can analyze either in automatic analysis mode or manual analysis mode. In auto-analysis, you specify how many seconds or how many plies deep to analyze, and also whether you want to analyse only certain moves or the whole game. In manual analysis, you can only look at one move at a time, and you start the analysis by clicking on the Analyze button, and you stop the analysis by clicking on the Analysis button again.

titohh

It not a virus, it's a 573 bytes long text file.
