Not just cable. A lot of people have thrown out the cable box and rabbit ears and now watch just the videos on the internet. And, of course, anything goes on the internet! 

We use colors : Red is the "f"word, brown the "s" word, pink the "c"word.

Yea, some english speaking guys seem to think its a big deal if a swear word can be seen by children - for whatever reason I cannot possibly fathom.

If schools in the U.S. are anything like schools over here, there will be hardly a swear word children dont hear at school.

It doesnt bother me personally cause I am not the swearing type, but I tend to get a good laugh out of seeing adults getting all exited about it instead of just educating their children properly and giving them the strength to grow up without being so fragile mentally that they'd need to be protected from "bad" words.

Guess its ok for kids to be abke to read news reports how their own slodiers kill and die all over the globe so long as they dont pick up a "bad" word for their own bodily wastes while reading them.

Yes, but it doesn't mean we should encourage it. They also can access porn videos on the net ; does it mean adult movies should be broadcasted on popular channels at 6 pm ?

Take a similar but unrelated subject : legalization of soft drugs. Whatever your views about the subject are, I am sure you can at least understand that some people do not want the state to become a (legal) dealer. That's pretty much the same here.

In the U.S. we have a lot of censorship.  Language is censored as are violence, nudity, and the news is a really interesting topic.  We may hope the children of our country are protected from colorful language and bad habits at school, however most Americans know the children will be exposed to some undesirable traits while attending their place of education.  I suppose it's a good thing I don't have kids because I'm just barely able to keep my swearing under control around women and children as it is.
