What determines whether Chess.com will compensate points for games against engine cheaters?

There are several times recently that I have checked my archives and found that I lost against cheaters, but know for a fact I was not compensated for the rating loss.

How do I get a moderator to notice this topic?

GYG

From what I understand, they only give refunds to the most recent 100 opponents that the cheater cheated against, and only in games which were played less than 3 months ago.

Defenstrator

Oh. That's unfortunate.

ShikshaWithPraveen

Hi Bryan, I can answer that question for you. According to chess.com, refunds are issued only when they determine that the cheater did indeed cheat in the specific game that they played against you.

However, I'm in the same boat as you. Cheaters that have been banned, that I played against did not get me a refund of my points when I know for a fact that they cheated. When I emailed staff and sent the game link to validate, I got a standard response where in they said that "if you did not get a refund of your points" then both of you actually played a clean game together.

All I could do at that point is ROFL at that statement.

One of the confirmed opponents in question crushed me 5 times in a row with 1 h4.

Defenstrator

So I have a hard time believing those were the games in which he played fairly.

ShikshaWithPraveen

1.h4 and then proceeds to play a flawless game after some random garbage within the first few moves. Yep, that is your everyday typical bot cheater.

GYG

From now on, every time I log in to play, I make a habit to go to live chess -> all players -> bullet, and immediately block and report ALL untitled accounts that are less than a month old, so there is no chance of us getting paired at all.

IMO chess.com takes far too long to ban these accounts and is far too incompetent to be relied on.

Defenstrator

How do you do a collective block?

GYG

You can't as far as I know, I just scroll through the accounts and block them one by one. It takes some time but it's worth it IMO.

On a lighter note, see this gem against Danny Rensch of all people!

ShikshaWithPraveen

I just played this guy earlier today, and he he personally attacked me and my wife

pathetic cheating scum

I always resond to morons like that with GIF's and nonsense, never be bothered to argue with them since they're all scum and will just be banned in a week anyway.

I am still awaiting an official answer from a moderator.

#3 seems correct and ive definitely heard it before

also... inb4 the lock

also... support.chess.com

also... mass blocking is stupid because then youre just picking and choosing your opponent to be ones who have been here for a while

picking your opponents is stupid

and do you unblock them!?

also why play the worst time control, which requires a good mouse (bullet is not chess)
