Usually it is a loss, especially to someone that dominates , (later you find out they were a cheater)
What Drives You to Play Another Game: Winning or Losing?
Well I get motivated after a win .. but when I loose i play to satisfy my greed of getting back my elo
I also always feel the urge to keep playing right after a loss. But often I just end up losing even more games and dropping more rating points. I start making really silly, low-level blunders, and my mental game completely falls apart. That’s why my rating swings so wildly.
Do casual, everyday chess players like me all struggle with this same issue?

Yes, this happens to me, about 6 months ago i was sent an email that 2 more people were caught cheating, so i went to look at the games and sure enough, i was playing well till the cheater broke me. then i crashed into multiple losses in a row. The 2 cheaters were not caught recently but after sometime on the site,
Definitely winning. After losing, the last thing I want to do is lose again, so I avoid that by just doing something else. Simple.
When I win, I want to play to keep my winning streak
i play until two circumstances usually: I’m bored, or I’m on a losing streak
I don’t care if I end the day with a loss usually…

I've done this loads of times, a tilt usually starts if I lose a game from a winning position. It's easy to lose focus, especially if you're up a piece and a pawn, you get careless and make inaccurate moves and before you know it, you've thrown away the game. Then, I sometimes get frustrated and play increasingly badly and say to myself 'I'll just keep playing til I win a game " but it's not a good strategy. The best thing is to take a break and come back in a more focussed state of mind.
More after a loss. But losing isn't only a bad thing for me, it can give me inspiration. Also heavy losses are sexy, and I usually let my opponent checkmate me. Results aren't the most important thing for me. I want to enjoy playing, going on adventures, trying moves I haven't before be it good or bad.
I will never improve drastically because of my mental health and the medication and long covid coming back from time to time. It's ok. I can maybe stay around 450 in rapid, but it's not important.
After finishing your first chess game, are you more motivated to play another one after a win, or after a loss?
