What is the current Friend limit?

That's incorrect. A limit was recently implemented and is likely to be decreased some more

The post you linked even stated that the friends were being removed, which was to get down to the current limit.

My point was mainly to show that for most of us (unless you’re Hikaru 😉) the friends limit doesn’t really matter. And also that there was this discussion on X where chess.com stepped in officially to say they don’t want to stand in the way of making new friendships.

No limit. But the number of pending friends have a limit AFAIK.
