I use the "Game Room" package for the app with a custom set consisting of vintage pieces and a Dark Wood board, with a black background when playing in the browser.
The Game Room set is one of the most beautiful combinations since the chess pieces are extremely easy to distinguish, which makes it simpler for me to keep track of everything at a glance and avoid confusion. The wood-colored board is aesthetically pleasing, and combined with the green felt background, it brings back the right childhood memories for me.
For browser play, I use the vintage pieces because they are in the same style but a bit more angular than those in the Game Room package, and the Dark Wood board enhances the contrast even further. The black background is simply because it makes the white text easier to read when I create blog posts or respond to forum posts.
