I have played chess in all types of conditions and noise levels, but when people do things in an attempt to deliberately distract me, to me that is disgusting.

You can't be serious!? If you are, you're starting to scare me, Crosspinner.

You scare easily, don't you.  Don't go out on Halloween Night.

While I'm here. What is there to scare you?

Is Crosspinner the fashion police? If I wear a low-cut blouse to a tournament, is it cheating? Why can't Crosspinner control himself? Is Dateline going to do an expose on chess tournaments?Laughing

Ah, but I did control myself - I won!   No, I am not "fashion police", I was just stating my disagreement with those that distract others while playing chess.  No matter what form of distraction it might be, it is disgusting to me.  In a way it is cheating, because anyone that choses to distract is attempting to annoy or hamper an opponent's ability to play the best possible.  What else would you call it?  If I lose it is because I can't play as well as my opponent.  I face it, I don't distract in hopes of winning.

I use bold type all of the time, because it is easier for me to read.  If I really want to be bold I use THIS SIZE FONT IN CAPS.  That is, if that is what you were referring to.

The problems with forums and e-mail, etc., is that too often others misread another's intent.  Hey, I'm an easy-going guy and do not mean to offend anyone.  I hope you understand.

I honestly don't why I should have to wear clothes, like I'm going to a funeral, because you can't concentrate playing a girl who wants to wear something comfortable? Unless this is some ploy of yours to distract me, by making me feel self-conscious about my cleavageLaughing

Worst experience.  Played a guy who when losing horribly offered a draw which of course I declined.  As we had 20 minutes each on the clock he said he would not resign and I would have to sit out 20 minutes if I wanted my win.  He then proceeded to insult me, calling me all kinds of names.  I think I did the right thing in totally ignoring him and sitting out my win.   I only play 2 12 games now.

Maybe it's your position while sitting?  Have you been leaning way forward on your elbows during your games in an attempt to befuddle your male opponents?  Cool

Knightvanguard

trysts, I never said that I wasn't able to concentrate.  I only said I wondered if she was wearing the low-cut blouse in an attempt to distract me.  Please read carefully.   And, no, I would never do anything to distract you, or anyone else, at least not on purpose. My wife has informed me from time to time that sometimes I am a distraction.

Now think about it, if a woman wears a low-cut blouse for the purpose of hoping to win because she distracted a male opponent, she wore it for more of a reason than to be comfortable. You have read far more into this comment of mine than is really there.

By the way, some people wearing no clothes would definitely be a distraction! Some naked bodies should be covered to prevent eye damage. I see one in the mirror every morning.

trysts, I never said anything against women wearing low-cut blouses. I only said I disagree if they do it an attempt to distract male opponents.  I learned long ago when my children were teenagers that one cannot change fashion trends because one does not agree with them.

I hope your day improves with passing.

Not disgusting at all.  If such things bothered me I would have no business commenting on threads.  I just want to be understood and not misunderstood.

trigs

best: being able to play chess with nice people whenever i want.

worst: realizing that some of those nice people kick my ass regularly and i'm probably never going to be able to beat them.
