Whats up with the animal pics?

I've never seen so many animal profile pics as I have here at chess.com. Probably 50% are animals. Cats, dogs, monkeys, hippos, and all kinds of other stuff.

Because a lot of chess players love animals, myself included even through I don't have a animal pic. My cat is my baby

I guess a lot of people just like animals. Nothing wrong with that. Your 50% estimate sounds WAY too high though. I don't even think 10% have animal profile pictures. I'd say anime-themed profile pictures are just as common (if not more) than animal pictures.
It doesn't really matter much though. As long as their picture abides by chess.com tos, then they can use whatever picture(s) they want.
I've seen more cats as animal profile pics than any other animal by far...

Anthropomorphism used to be funny. Now it's just woke furries. Except bunnies. Bunnies are ok

No animal related things in my username or profile 
TPBM has a "real photo" as their profile picture (not necessarily you, but something taken with a camera/phone).
