where are the fixes?

it's been about a month since cc had the big outage where staff decided to tell us they had so many people join that they couldn't handle the volume. oh, what a sad problem to have!

for the owners. sorry, there is no sarcasm font.

the rest of us pedestrians are simply wanting the site to function, and it is not. alerts are random. our activity is still missing on our home page. the dictator (former bunny) that posted the link to see every post we have tracked is missing topics (great link, you should post it again. i'm afraid my link might be all my topics).

it is too long for these things to seem like a perpetual "we will get back to you". i do not follow posts from staff about this because, well, they're usually bs. hence, this topic.

is there any reasonable explanation for why the former site dysfunction has not been restored?

Good point, Al. I wrote them a little over a week ago, and got a message thanking me for " reaching out ".  I was told that they would get back to me, but I haven't yet received anything. I'll check my email tomorrow, and if nothing has changed, I'll write them again. If, in another week, we don't have a meaningful response, I'm open to other approaches.

I would hate to leave the chess.com community, but I really like vote chess, and recently they've either deliberately ruined it, or we've been hit with another bug storm. Hard to tell their features from their bugs anymore.

ody, have you received any response?

staff: my alerts are still screwy and the "my activity" under the notes is still missing.

anyone out there taking care of this?

I wrote them a somewhat longer email a little over a week ago. I told them this was a follow up because I hadn't heard back from them after receiving their form letter. They sent me a longer form letter, thanking me again for "reaching out", and gave a list of problems they were dealing with, and asked for patience. They even said they were short handed, and gave a link for applying for a job with them.

Even if extra demand is swamping the servers, I don't understand how that would make things like standard features of vote chess stop working. The heavy rains in California have kept me busy with home repairs. So for now, I'm just going to be patient and wait another 2 or 3 weeks before addressing this again.

Most tickets to support is going to take longer than expected to be answered. The increased traffic has resulted in increased numbers of tickets as all, so there's a lot to work through.  I believe they have been hiring more support staff to help, but that also takes time for training and getting them up to speed.

As to updates, I know that work on optimizations has been continuing.

Fixes and improvements are expensive, very expensive.  You need to think about the owners' yachts!

Well, I guess I'll have to write this out again. My last communication was obliterated for spelling out the word indicated by the initials, B.S. I'll give a shortened version.

I finally got a response back from a site rep named Robert. He apologized for the long delay, and said that they were under less pressure now, so future responses would be received within 24 to 48 hours.

I was relieved to hear that the vote chess changes were the result of a bug. Knowing chess.com, it could have just as easily been a new feature. He said they were aware of it and were working on it, and it would be fixed "sooner rather than later".

To compensate for the B.S. they gave me a free diamond membership for a month. He called it a reward for my patience. Anyway, that's where it stands.

wow. i should have free diamond for a year as much as they mess with me. muted for quoting someone. threads locked by hall monitors with no explanation. kid mods threatening to ban me if i question them...

hehe, who am i kidding. i wouldn't use any of the features!

i just want the site to function properly. it seems there are few adults at the helm.

I agree. Your muting was completely undeserved and just downright stupid. I'm going to write them about that. Maybe I can reach someone on this site who can comprehend that the censorship has gone way off the rails. Who knows, maybe ('ll get another diamond membership.

This is BS - You get a diamond and you don't even use a premium flair? You need to be punished now. Mods!!!

We will abide by all minor issues with connection, spam, auto mutes, censorship but never premium flair abuse.

That's the spirit. You have redeemed yourself. But please update your flair.

We all need an adult. And flairs.

it is quite sad how this issue doesn't seem to matter.

months without our activity being visible seems to not be considered an issue. i can't even see the groups i'm in on my homepage.

fix this

Avatar of AlCzervik

still waiting...

lucky for me, a bunny showed me years ago how to get to topics i've posted in. to see my groups, i have to go to the homepage of another in the group and then click on it. this is not as easy as it seems, as i can't even acces my friends list here.

fix this.

The missing items on the homepage were removed on purpose for load mitigation purposes, until additional optimization work could be done to ease database load. Some things have come back and others should as that work is completed.

"removed on purpose"

wow. what a way to treat your customers.

Sounds very much like what they did to Tony dal ...

It was more important to stabilize the site and stem the database issues and keep the site usable. That, among other changes quickly made at the time, were stop-gap solutions to give time for the larger amount of work that needed to get done to ultimately solve the load issues.

it's now been over three months where my home page does not show my topics or groups. i need to use workarounds to get to them.

this is unacceptable.

fix this.
