You should be thankful that I'm educating you for free.

Normally you wouldn't be able to afford me.

You certainly have your work cut out for you.

Maybe you should just kindly step aside

The moderation has been mine, and I've had to delete several subsequent references as well - if people can't stop doing this, then this thread will be locked as well - we don't really want to have to manage a thread on an ongoing basis. It's already pretty borderline given that moderation doesn't change the URL of the thread.

With all due respect, but so what if a rival site is mentioned? What is the big deal? Maybe this has been explained somewhere before, but i'm too lazy to search for it. Maybe you can explain it again, because i just want to understand what the big deal is here. I find it quite sad that you removed the meme i posted. I created that one all by myself and was quite proud since i'm not much of a tech nerd.

It's always been a policy hereabouts - really, the name of the other site is irrelevant, because it's actually about specific features and functionality, which can be discussed without actually naming what site they're from. Any good site is always evolving and changing, and what may have been true at one point in time may no longer be true now, or may not be true in the future - so leave off where it's (supposedly) from and talk about the functionality, and you'll be fine.

In much the same way as politics and religion, people tend to get into entrenched positions on this matter and throw often untrue accusations over the parapets before bunkering down behind theirs. Chess.com chooses to deal with that by ruling out those discussions in the public forums: you're welcome to have them in any private club of your choosing, but the public forums are no go.

Hope that helps!

I don't think people have strong opinions about chess sites, but as you say they do make inaccurate statements, and since this forum is so visible to the public (e.g. google searches), chess.com doesn't want it to be free and/or false advertising for their rivals. Chess.com is first and foremost a business.

I made an account on the other site and beat 1900 players like they were 1400 here, definitely inflation. I reckon chess.com isnt too off from Fide.

agreed

My rating here at 15/10 almost matches my FIDE rating. But it's probably a mere coincidence.

Online ratings are a bit or more inflated.. you may have not played many games online.

Avatar of rishabh11great

Ya, but it happens with many people as playing online and otb is very different. You are able to feel the pieces and the psychology of the games which helps a lot. You play seriously OTB but online , you play for practice. These factors make a difference.

Anyone has some idea of comparison of ratings [ FIDE TO chess.com]. I have recently crossed 2100 on tactics trainer on chess.com. What should be the estimated fide rating?

There's not a good comparison, but just from having looked at a lot of different people, my estimate is chess.com tactics subtract 600 to 800 is FIDE.

But that's just a rough estimate. Some people are very good at tactics, some people aren't. Some people are trying very hard to solve puzzles and some people solve puzzles casually.

Hey there, i finally crossed 1500 in rapid chess.. but no one got a estimate of comparision to FIDE Ratings.

I do not trust that estimate, I am a positional player with a 2500 tactics rating, and my fide is 1600.

The other site has hugely inflated ratings. My bullet rating there is over 400 points higher than here! This site also tends to have higher ratings than FIDE (Narodisky isn´t a 3000+ rated FIDE player for example).

Please dont be so arrogant. I play well in rapid and classic which you hardly play.
