If Chess.com threw some money at Carlsen or Anand for being a spokesman that could help this site.

That could help it a lot. There's already a lot of craze bout Carlsen, if he was on here, just imagine

einstein99

How about using the users log on name, that makes Einstein like number one!!

I am not famous, powerful or rich. never will be. Geez, thanks for reminding me! As far as that goes I am just an old man and a loser with no friends or legacy... I am ready to die. I think it is time.

Hello.  Macer.  Since you are the resident social historian of Chess.com, how do you propose to deal with the large number of miscreants, pranksters, and trools, that have existed in days past but have had all vestiges of their existence wiped away?  Sometimes older members make oblique reference to such persons but do you think their exploits should be archived and indexed?

Due to site policy, the comments and profiles of the banned members are wiped away.  The internet archive is only useful if you have any idea for what you are looking.

Case in point (hypothetical):  If you and your friends quit the site (get girlfriends, graduate from middle school, get jobs, etc.) then people will forget who "Daeth" is after some time has passed.  Then Daeth will become an archaelogical curiosity.

I've actually thought about that before, and I considered creating a thread that can be used as a database, where people post links to threads that are worth preserving. However, the obvious problem is that if those threads get deleted, then having the links is useless. And unfortunately I haven't been able to come up with a better solution, but I'll continue thinking about it.

Do you have anything in mind btw?

My only idea is befriending and getting to know people that have been posting in the site for years, and ask them to share their knowledge.

Invent a time machine - simple :)

how many members do you have blocked?

have you been unblocking people?

i am sure you blocked a lot more than that - or threatened to - on your thread

winerkleiner

We might need a thread for the blocked people to try and hash out their differences. Could this possibly help or cause a civil war?

falcogrine

the harryz unblock training camp will be the start of many wars indeed

Yes, there was 5000 straws send to all of the single available guys on this site, the one who picks the longest gets a chance for a date.  Good news I think, George Clooney is among the running.

well as long as you made sure he got the longest straw then all is good

falcogrine

I can rig the contest I suppose.  You won't have Harry although, Frown.

winerkleiner

Would you like the guys with pocket protectors to draw straws also?
