Why am I losing so much today?

I don't understand. I was slowly working my way up and now I've gone from 877 elo to 809 and lost 7/8 games that I've played. I'm getting decimated right out of the opening now every game I've played and now I'm thinking of quitting. I thought i was learning but I guess I'm not. What could be happening here?

You've hit a slump. Play more until you get out of the slump.

Chess tilt its just when you have been playing too much and losing and you just start to lose every game just take a break

Sounds like you need to eat more Weetabix. relapsing like that is a dead giveaway bullet

wait a day or two and then start playing again. apply what you know to each game knowing that no matter winning or losing you will be learning something. don't get caught up on losing a few, look at the big picture. that happened with my blitz rating it dropped over 150 but It is climbing back up. losing is natural, just don't get discouraged.

Don’t worry, it happens to everyone

I went from 1300 to 1150 in the space of like 2 days and spent the last couple of weeks clawing my way back up to 1250. It sucks but if you climb to a rating several different times, at least you know that you earned it and you didn't get there on a winstreak fluke, think of it as an opportunity to practice and really ingrain what you did to get there in the first place. Play more games, carefully and deliberately, and your rating will adjust to meet your skill level.

Played 4 more games, lost all of them. I really think it might be time to give up.

all games are gambling, when you lose, you want to recoup, but you enter an even bigger minus. Then you just need to take a break, distract yourself, go outside, take a walk. Tomorrow you will succeed!

You're still in the slump.

Eventually, you'll win because each time you lose, the players get worse.

Don't agree. Carrying on playing when you've hit a slump is the last thing someone ranked 800 should be doing. Take a break and come back later or tomorrow when the emotions have subsided and you can think more clearly.

May be some medical issues, if I were to lose 7 games of chess, WHOOSH, I would have gone for a CT scan, this is really worrying , I mean losing 7 games of chess

I will never likely get past 1000 on rapid[...] No amount of coaching, practice or puzzles will ever get me past that rating.

He says, knowing that his fate is sealed after playing an average of 2 rapid games a day for 2 months. My dude, play 4x as many for 5 months and then get back to me, nobody hits an in-built ceiling after 115 games. Also, try playing games with bonus increment if you tend to get into time trouble- do 15+10, it ends up giving you more time than your 20 minute standard and if you're running out of time, you can play a few fast moves to build up your time again. Getting good at playing faster comes with experience and you're not practicing rapid games often enough to get used to it.

And babies are rubbish at walking, it must be pointless trying to improve, they should just quit
