This is a misunderstanding. They aren't getting rid of live chess.
However, they will be getting rid of the old computer server that handled live chess. That was called the "Live Chess" server-- as distinguished from the "Daily Chess" server. They have built a new server that can handle both live games and daily games. It is called the "Play" server. They announced it more than a year ago. The Play server has been available for months on the Chess.com website menu. You can use it now. You can choose all kinds of both live and daily chess on it.
As the notice said, they are looking for people to let them know if they have missed anything.
