amazing response, thank you
Like, what is the point in doing that? Does it give you some bonus, or makes you just feel accomplished to have no friends, to pretend someone cares about you? Why?
I mean ig people who ask to give them a follow or friend them just want attention
well, not everyone is doing that for fame or attention. to be honest, i really like collecting achievements so i am open to adding anyone in order to get the achievement for 100 friends i am so into achievements that i even made a step by step guide for all of them (link in my profile note) to help others get them too!
It gives you nothing. Literally nothing at all. Some people, though, think that it gives them “status” or something or other. When the daily puzzle was how it was before, as a forum, you’d see people who would rush to make it to the first page and beg for friends. Now chess.com cleaned that up. To me it seems sad that people beg for “followers” on a site where you play chess or “friends”(in quotation because you don’t really know them). Some just want attention and seek it because they have nothing better to do, which seems to be very common here. If it’s on a chess.com blog, i guess it makes sense because who doesn’t want more people reading their blog? There it makes sense.
TL;DR: It’s pointless and serves no use other than to make someone feel as if they have status or (nonexistent)”power”. However, on blogs it makes sense.

Yeah, i agree. I have a blog, but i made it just to help others, i am not trying to gain followers, besides the blog is finite, i am just keeping it updated now
The same reason i get friend requests from people i dont know, and they make no effort to communicate. Its just one of those "Look how many regrinds i have" thing. I clean out my friends list once a week. If no communication, youre gone.

I feel the same. I rather have a list of 10 people that i talk to and play together than 1000 friends just to be "popular"

3 of the people on my friends list are people i know in real life.
6 are people i met here and have developed a rapport with.
1 is someone new, so they 6 days.

if I did that, I'd be back to zero
Yeah, I need 1 friend even if they don't like me
