Why is this site full of bad manners?

I really want to know why am I hated so frequently on this site? is it just me or are you too?

Doesn't sending hateful messages after you lose make you a bad loser?

Gr33nPawn

Don't pay attention, haters gonna hate, but what do you mean frequently? every game?

Gr33nPawn

The worst thing on chess.com for me is cheaters, i don't pay attention to people speaking bad, at least it means they don't cheat

No. Maybe 5-10 percent of my bullet/blitz games. It's still too much IMO.

DreamscapeHorizons

I don't think most of the mean comments are serious. I think people are just goofing off saying rude stuff. Since people don't really joke in real life they get away with it online.

Fromacatspov

Who did you play/what did they say? I just dont pay attention

I don’t have that problem
ChessMasteryOfficial

Online, people can feel anonymous and often say things they wouldn’t in person.

yes but the thing is... I have been using other online platforms on which people are as anonymous as they are here, and they show more professional behavior than this site. (I don't name the other sites as I'm not sure if it is allowed to name them)

There is no such experience for me. Yes, a couple of opponents I have faced were toxic, but players don't often send bad messages in chat or use abusive/slang language.

Same. Occansionally if I'm doing really poorly they'll say something like "you suck" or "you're a loser" but this seldom happens.

Boohoo. Such are the mysteries of life

LOSTATCHESS

most of time for me and i am the loser most times even if i wanted to send a hatful message which is or should i say shows how bad a player i am most people here can't speak english to understand my frustration on losing and there fore out lash or bad comments really directed at oneself but sent to other player who has won is useless-- so it kind of pointless to strike out at anyone -- so this why i have my own forum post where i lash out at myself ----- and just leave the game -- most times to sit in my stew of grief on losing for the seventh or 8th time in a row

That's why the site doesn't even bother to do anything about cheetahs, let alone impolite people.

Sad, but true.

It's the nature of the internet...

Just posted over at Lichess 5 min ago

Titled "Why is otb chess so hard?"
Quote " I'm rated 2000 blitz lichess and i just lost to a 1000 rated 9 yrs old kid otb crying emoji

i know its a big difference between online and otb but is it supposed to be this extreme"

This guy is indeed rated 2001 blitz and 1880 in rapid on Lichess

There is no way that this guy is actually rated 2000 elo in blitz (which is about 1800 elo here on Chess.com. ) yet... there he is with 82 games.

Sorry, internet chess enthusiast, the Internet is filled with cheaters. (love the game, play and don't take your internet rating serious... play to improve your OTB game! )

I truly believe a large portions of the chess being played is by someone sitting with an opening's data base on a split screen, or a phone with a chess engine on it.

No one is going to convince me that the A.I. that these chess sites are using are going to catch someone having an opening's data base on a split screen or pick up someone using something like a Fidelity Electronics Mach III rated at 2100 Fide with an outdated openings repertoire.

I Blocked that guy... I'm close to his rating in rapid on Lichess ... for all I know I suffered a loss by that guy... One thing to take away from it... Cheating doesn't improve your chess ... might give you street cred on a site like this, but... in OTB (real chess!!) Nope!

It kinda js happens on the internet (I've heard similar things on the "other" site as well I don't think it's js here) but also chess.com has so many more members there's always gonna be more trolls/sore losers

I'm a bit late and I may be new, but for the one game I've ever played where the opponent was toxic, I just roasted them in 11 different languages (including their own) using google translate. Then they stopped, so what I learned is if you beat them at their own game hard enough they just stop.
