Why there are so many trolls in chess.com ????? I was studying some possible reasons but I just don't get why there are so many. Is our future determined by the trolls ? Are trolls controlling the world secretly ?

Now your getting it. That's what the purpose of yesterday's thread was all about, "forum nonsense".

chessdex

Why do you care so much?? They are only in the public forums, you dont havem to participate in the public if you don't want to, or block them.

chessdex

sorry, I was talking to the OP

chessdex

Don't be muckrackers people, you expose chess.com's problems, but then dont do anything about it.

Are there any statistics that bear out that this site has more antisocial behaviour than average?

First question:  How to define a "regular contributor"?

Second question:  How many regular contributors are on the forum?

And go from there.

hey what do you mean with ''anti-social behaviour''

well then what are you trying to do? I think misunderstood you, sorry.

The reason why there are trolls is because some people get bored participating in a seriosu thread about chess, especially when one is lower rated, and they have so much time to kill, they troll

Idrinkyourhealth

I never said that trolls are a problem for this page. I actually think the opposite.

The horrible truth is that there are maybe two or three trolls on chess.com, but each one of them has upwards of twenty sockpuppet accounts. In effect, a handful of people generate more comments than a busload of ADHD teenagers.

Idrinkyourhealth,yes, sorry, I misunderstood you

Anyone that has that much time to kill could be doing something to actually enrich themselves, instead of diluting the world around them ;).

Check this site out:  www.coursera.org.  You can take a college level course for free, and each course has its own forum, and each forum has an up and downvote tally and forum poster leaderboard page.  It's like an attention whore paradise, but you also learn something useful.

Oh, look...a online game theory course from Stanford for free:

Everything is a cross section of life in our day in time. People are various levels of intelligence...chess, checkers, movies, books, clubs, in the streets, in your bed, etc...

What makes you think that there are not an abundance of trolls trolling the world?...its just life and the survival of the fittest. Get over it and stop asking why are people trolling, it is what it is.

Stay thirsty my friend

trolls aren't rulling the world seceratly, actually, its quite public!

I actually agree with that. So maybe they are rulling the world, but never secretly
