I think it's going to stay around a while longer than that

This new feature is an attempt to invade my privacy. Please remove! You obviously didn't look at the legal aspect as this could lead to class action lawsuits.

You have to give permission to the camera if you want to use it.

Get that [removed ]“life review” message off my app right now! 20 years if membership and I just looked at you cookies! 🍪 Not April fool. Not [removed] happy.

It's only needed for Life Review as it uses pictures to generate the reviews.

Is this true? Chess.com is stealing photos and personal information for an April 1st joke? I have no words.

Well, I told you all to use a browser

Sorry - been away. Yes, not April fool. There is now a “life review” button with a (!!) prompting me to click it. But the only option is to allow camera access. I do not give a crap that it is “just a silly little thing”. I card that I cannot get rid of the (!!) unless I give up another bit of my soul. Get rid of it! ASAP!

I don’t like it either. I am not as gullible as most. It might be time to look into a new app for my chess.

What is it? Why would a chess app need access to my camera? I won’t do it but, I would like to know what it is all about.

looks like this little "April fool" thing is turning into a bad buzz tongue

The developers are trying to get chess.com banned in the EU, and they are doing a pretty good job.

Hey! Just wanted to jump in to touch on some of the concerns here. This feature is meant as lighthearted fun and nothing more.

  • The app does not have access to the camera by default, so it requires the user to do it manually first. This is ONLY used in Life Review.
  • While picking the image from the gallery, the app will only have access to the selected photo and not the whole gallery.
  • NOTHING is sent to our servers. All processing is done locally on the device.
  • The Brilliant notification on the bottom bar will be removed on April 2nd.

I can’t get rid of that stupid “brilliant” notification down on the “more” tab

Also, I tested it out by uploading a picture of my father holding my sister when she was a baby and the bot said “I absolutely hate this.”

@Tanner I love your product and service and voted with my wallet... But this idea? For the record, I do not like nor approve.

It's just a lame April Fool's joke.

lol hopefully it is just a April fools joke

As Tanner said, you have to give it permission to access your camera or any photos. I don’t see the problem.

Another vote for stuuuuupid idea and getting rid of that that dumb brilliant move symbol

Why are y'all so untrusting... It's just an April Fool's joke TwT
It's the same as a filter on TikTok, Snapchat, etc. I'm pretty sure it's based on chance rather than actually "rating" the photo.

It's planned on being permanent
