I think the issue is that chess.com might make this a regular part of the app and that people will allow access to their camera without reading the fine print and then chess.com will be able gather data when they aren't aware of it. Also they shouldn't be accessing the camera of underage users in the first place.

Where did they see the positive feedback? Because it's clearly not in this thread of discussion...

@Tanner I paid up subscriptions to learn chess and for that purpose, this site has been nothing but excellent.

I'm sorry but I don't believe you. Are you saying that there has been more positive feedback than negative feedback?
Also, what percentage of the people that have used the camera feature have been underage? They probably are not thinking about whether they want you to have their information. Does the app ask if users are above a certain age before accessing their camera?

The site does not do anything with any images taken, though the member can share the images.

Are the images not just put through a filter like on TikTok or Snapchat? I don't see a problem with something like that

For now. I would guess they probably will in the future when people get used to it being part of the app. They're probably going to have more activities or whatever where users have to grant access to their camera and at some point chess.com will start collecting this data.

Pretty sure that's not something that's going to happen.
