As a matter of fact, this mating patern has a name: it's called an "epaulette mate".

Luck is right. Had black played 33... Qf2+, then 34 Kh1 (forced), 34... Qf1 is checkmate. Your opponent snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

27...Bh3 isn't mate because of 28 Qg2. Of course it's a good move, since it wins the queen for the bishop.
