Nope. In general, K+R v K+R is drawn. Could you show us your position?
End Game Debacle
Sorry, with best play, endgames where both sides have a rook and king and nothing else are almost always draws.
If you both have a king and rook and there is a strategy for you to take your opponent's rook or # him, what are you going to do when he uses that strategy on you?
Yeah, if it's blitz, and your opponent refuses a draw offer, just keep your king and rook close together, and make aimless moves until you can claim a draw or a win on time. Because it ain't going anywhere else.
My position at end time was Kg3 & Re3. Opponnent was Kd5 & Rc4.
So, what i gather is you either have a draw or wait for a mistake to be made...interesting.
yep, that's completely drawn. What, you thought there was a way to force a win against an equal defensive force?
the game starts with an equal defensive force...so why not? "All that matters on the chessboard is good moves." -Bobby Fischer. What I am saying is it wouldn't be impossible to win if your oponnent made a mistake and lost his rook...right?

The difference is that it's easy to not make a mistake with just the material in your endgame and it's virtually impossible to not make a mistake from the starting positions.
No, I've never agreed with a troll.
Lay off man, he isn't trollin'.
k sry JamesTRichmond. I just assumed troll because you weren't agreeing with me on a very simple point.
Look, there is no reason for an apology. I appreciate your use of terms to make me feel inferior to you. It's funny. Troll...classic! Back on subject now. I propose you and I play a game and get down to a rook and king each and try to create something. Imagine if we could find a way to take someones rook. Your thoughts?

It would be boring. You could never win, and neither could anybody in the world. Of course, that's not saying much, given that the position is so drawn. If you were playing somebody bad enough to lose that position, then you would've probably ended the game long before such an ending could arise.
I was playing a game and lost due to time because we both had a king and a rook left and i was unable to end it. I was wondering if anybody knows a strategy to take my opponent's rook and # him or even to # him without taking the rook. So, can anyone help?
