Endgame trainer

Why isn't there an "endgame trainer" much like tactics trainer, with dozens of thousands of endgame positions with which to test/train and sorting rating or theme???

This site has some drill positions and short chessmentor courses but nothing like the volume of Tactics Trainer. Tempo has a lot, but they are all 5-piece or less forced winning endgames. Chessimo has 1440 drawn and won endgames, but not sortable... closest to what I would like, but also not the stereotypical more-numerous piece endings such as simplifying a pawn majority for instance.

I am curious since everyone harps on volume and repetition (and, of course, endgames) for learning, and with tactics we have such material in abundance, but not so much with endings.

PM me, and i will let you know about a site that has endgame training.

We could make this thread and endgame trainer. I've got a great book of endgame puzzles that I can upload and others could as well.

chesstempo.com has endgame problems.  It's limited to 2 problems a day for free members. 20 problems/day for $20/yr members and unlimited for premium $35/yr members - which is currently on a $10 discount thru May 31.

Opps. The knight is supposed to be on g5. Thanks, I'll fix it.

There is one. Chess King, the company that does Ct-Art, has several great training programs with thousands of puzzles. They have a whole module on Endgame. I'm probably getting it in, well as soon as I get my shower and sit down to order it. 8$. If you have a smartphone or tablet, you're good to go.

Here's an endgame puzzle!

Chess tempo is great, already a member, but it is limited to 5-piece or less endgames that are winning only.

What are the challenges of creating an endgame server that can dish out endgame problems in the number and variety as the many tactics trainers there are?

There are lots of endgames tactics in tactics trainer.  If you only want to practise endgame tactics you can do the following:

1. Go to the tactics trainer page.

2. click the training mode button (looks like a bar graph with an arrow above it, not to be confused with the stats button)

3. Select the Custom (Unrated) option

4. From the themes select Endgame Tactics.

Hope this helps a bit.

That is a great option, Ebert, thanks...

Does anybody know if the mobile app allows customization for Tactics Trainer? The only setting I can change in Tactics Trainer is "Show Timer."

Give http://chessendgames.com/ a try

Thanks for the link, KaosKid. I just tried the website... Looks like a lot of practice positions (including greater than 5-pieces, which is what chesstempo is like limited to), but there are no solutions/feedback nor is there any way to select problems based on user ratings or specific endgame types, as with chess tempo. It feeds you random positions and they get harder if you do better on them, much like with tactics trainers. Practicing with unknown positions is always good, but it would be nice if there were solutions that we can study when we err.
