endgame

hello

this is my first post and i figure it should be about something that i really need help in. maybe i can get some good advice that i can put to some good use.

so basically its my endgame....it sucks. i know some basic basic things like not stacking your pawns early on because it will bite you in the butt later and all. i have done a few tactics puzzles with endgame themes in them. apparently you are supposed move your king up as far as you can before your pawns go up... and all that jazz. i know every game is different and thus should be played accordingly, but are there some general rules to to endgame that i should know about?

for example...

pawn advancement....minor piece positioning to help them advance.... other questions...

its funny I'm not even sure what questions i should be asking but i am certainly curious...i think it will help my game alot if i make steps in figuring out the endgame since it is a crucial part of the game. anything will help. if this has already been talked about...i don't follow along with the forums and would not mind reading past posts if they are relevant if someone can point me in the right direction.

p.s. if you really wanna get into it we can play a game and you can tell me what i am doing wrong hehe that's just a pipe-dream though.

p.ss i have been playing alot of the Meran setup with white lately...and if someone has advice on what to do with that i wouldn't mind hearing it.
