ending puzzles

Is the first puzzle meant to have 1/2-1/2 at the top or are the positions of the White king and rook significant? (I understand you're not meant to look at the FEN.)
Many contributors do not know how to use the result box in the puzzle editor. The same error is in every diagram of this topic.
Yes, I'd griced that. It's apparently a convention unless you can prove otherwise (but e.p. captures confusingly work the other way round). Still possibly a good idea to put it in the FEN.
OK. Solved the second puzzle eventually, but immediate it wasn't (only partly because I spent quarter of an hour trying to find a White mate in 5 from the position shown before I read the question).
I'd already "solved" the third to the extent that I'd thought of a way to force a pawn home and I could win with that against SF14, but I still haven't bottomed it out. I think it must be the basis of the answer.
(How did you manage to insert a rook figurine into my last post?)
the 1/2-1/2 is automathic, i didn''t make it
It's a default but you approved it by not changing it. In the "Details" screen you can chose a different result. The puzzle editor cannot see what result of your puzzle is unless it is a checkmate or stalemate. In all other cases it's your responsibility to fill in the correct result!
The default could be better thought out.
(The puzzle editor could also see the result if it was a KBK or KNK position or it could take it from the "result" keyword in a PGN for example. It can be excused dead positions because FIDE don't tell you how to recognise those. But if it doesn't know the answer and you haven't chosen an answer, it shouldn't display an answer.)
