How is there a mate??

If in any way, the King is threatened, the Black's Bishop will just kill White's Bishop so that the King has space to move.

And if White's Bishop moves, then Black's Bishop will move so that, again, the King has space to move.

1.Rc7 b4 2.Rc5#

The a2 and b2 pawns play no role, they can (and should) be removed.

Otherwise it's a nice puzzle.

On move 2 you threw away a pawn. On move 3 you threw away a bishop. On move 6 you threw away a knight.

Don't do this. Don't play random moves. Pay attention to the game and try to find good moves.

Got it on my first try because of the easy spotted zugzwang for black

it plays a role, if there are no pawns, black can just take the rook
