Hello, im fairly new, but due to unstable internet connection, i play against myself. I got into a situation i dont know what moves are best. it is White's move. Layout: black king: d8 black pawn: a7, b7, c7 black bishop: b6, f1 black queen: e3 white king: c2 white pawn: a3, b4, g2 white knight: g1, e2 white queen: c4 Im not sure what to do here.

My view on the game - position is equal with equal material. White's g pawn is hanging and I would solve this by first giving check with my queen on d5, forcing move and the black king has to move, then I would offer a queen trade by placing my queen on f3. There is a big chance Im missing something here for the both sides, but this is what I think after analyzing the position for one minute xd. Black would have better pawn structure and bishop pair, but white has passed pawn (isolated) and I would like to get rid of dark squared bishop.

Here's the board for anyone that wants to see it:

Looking at the analysis, the incentive is on White to draw this position, not win it. Black has the bishop pair in an extremely open position. This is good for black because bishops thrive in positions where they can move uninhibited by pawns. White has an isolated pawn, which will be very easy to target, and a pair of very inactive knights on the first and second rank that will take a while to get to get mobilized. Overall, if it's anyone's game to win, it's Blacks, so White should look to draw here.

A simple way to achieve this is playing Qg8+, which will achieve perpetual checks. Whether black blocks with the queen or moves the king, you will always be able to continually check, because Black can never abandon control of the F-file, due to his unprotected bishop on f1 (a simple variation that shows this is Qg8+, Kd7, Qf7+, Kd8, Qxf1). So he will need to keep the king in the vicinity, which will allow you to keep checking. As long as you keep checking in the vicinity of this area, you should be able to get perpetual.

I’d recommend playing against computers rather than yourself if your internet is unstable...

Oh well

the perpetual still works though?

The perpetual is the best option if it is white's move.
