Playing for the draw

I am black in this game, I was able to pull off a draw. I want to take a closer look at this, because it seems to me my opponent could have had some winning chances. Esp, before the questionable 40. a5

Anyone care to comment on this endgame?

50) Rd8 Kg7 51)RxBg8+ Kf7 52) Ra8, then I think white can win.

Something like... This.

Cato, do you think white has a chance with his pawns after Rd1+ Kf2 a1=Q?

 On which move?

Then the white rook is lost, it should be like this

Cato, I meant at the end of your line (which was the only time Rd1 was available). Although, I do like white's chances with a knight and 3 connected pawns against a rook.

yeah, but why do things the hard way? White would probably win, but it wouldn't be as easy.

Cato, I think  you missed a checkmate in your line. 3. Ng4+ Kh5 4. Rg5#

Thus, 2...Kf7 is more probable

Ok, yeah... But basically it seems that white should have won that game

DavidL had the right line in comment#2. 45...Rd8 looks faster, but White threatens mate (if Rxd4) with 46.Nf5 and has 47.Nd6.

I think white has lots of potential with 47. e6

Understated and true.

White missed a 2-move checkmate: after 47...Rc2, white can simply play 48.e6+, black has to take Rxb2, and then 49.Re8 mate.

"White missed a 2-move checkmate: after 47...Rc2, white can simply play 48.e6+, black has to take Rxb2, and then 49.Re8 mate."

Why does black have to play Rxb2 in that line?
