Promoted pawn revealed only after opponent plays

In a game I was playing as white, a black pawn reached the 1st rank and did not seam to promote; that is, it remained a pawn. I thought it was either a psych move (I was up a bishop and rook vs rook) or a missed click, so I played on under the assumption it was still a pawn. Only after I moved, the pawn instantly changed to a queen and captured my bishop (which would have captured the queen if I had seen the promotion earlier) ... it’s the first time I have seen that delayed queen promotion. Has anyone experienced that before? Is that a Chess.com “Settings” option?

It just sounds like a glitch and your client didn't update correctly after the promotion took place. It's also possible a bug made into a recent update , but haven't seen other posts about it.
