Post 21, whilst I can recognise the knight and bishop setup in diagram two, both example positions or patterns neglect the king influence and are unlikely to be reached without this.

Yes.  It teaches you how to coordinate your two bishops throughout the game.

That's a decent instructional diagram. All the basics are there and the notes explain what's going on.

Don't bother learning it. The position with two bishops and king vs. king very rarely arises in a game. Though you could have a look at it to understand how powerful a light and dark bishop can be when controlling double diagonals. Otherwise there's no point in memorising how to do it.

Apart from the fact every player should be able to win a won endgame, IMHO.

I realize OP hasn't logged in in 3 years but,

Memorize it? Almost useless.

You should understand the mechanism though. How the bishops and king work together to cover space. That's useful.

Why not? It takes a few minutes to undestand what the plan is and if you find yourself in that situation in a game you will win. You dont need to memorize 50 moves just remember the mating pattern and work towards it.

I'm about 1200 elo, and I struggled to checkmate with two bishops against one of my opponents, and the game resulted in a draw because of the 50-move rule.
