u cant unless they walk into a corner
Two knights
Im not really sure i've never won with 2 knights and 1 king before but its possible. if the black king makes a mistake and moves in the corner.
I mean when the king isn't in the corner. Can anybody show the thirty or so moves it takes to get the king to the corner so it can be checkmated.

It's impossible. Knights just aren't strong enough to pull it off.
Short answer: It's only possible if your opponent is an idiot and happily waltzes his way into the mating position for you.
(well okay, that wasn't really a particularly short answer.)

I don't think so.

No, he's right. Two knights cannot force a checkmate against a king unless he happens to already be in the corner or is an idiot and goes there. However, a knight and a bishop can, and two bishops of opposite colors can.
Also, there are some positions in which two knights can checmkate a king if the defender also has a pawn.
And then there's this thing:

(But as you can see, it takes a special set of circumstances to force mate with 2 Kts.)
OK, so you can't mate unless the king is already in the corner or an edge next to attacker's king with the knights in a very special setup.

I finally found the book, and looked it up, and the defender DID have a pawn.

How would you checkmate somebody who had just a king, if you had just two knights, and a king?
