My 1 min games always end due to time. Is this how they usually go or when players are better do they end in checkmate?
Should I continue playing the way I do or should I work on more elegant endings?

The rates of timeouts are likely higher. This is followed by checkmates, resignations and stalemates. Draws are not commonly seen apart from stalemates.

In your latest two losses, both losses come from checkmates.
