1. The best way to extinguish your opponent's fire, is by having his own pawns block his pieces.

2. Mate-threats are Way faster than promotion threats.

I blundered in the opening, and he wisely exploited it, but... rules are rules.

That's because you're not a beginner. - you're 500 points higher than me. just kidding, the reason is because maybe my explanation wasn't good. so..

 

Advice 1 was about move 19 - Nf4 where I blocked Black's f pawn from advancing [and he can't play g5 - his own queen blocks it - again, the same idea (bishop and rook blocked by pawn who is blocked by a white horse. and g pawn blocked by queen - so white horse can't be dislodged by the move g5)], so therefore, his light squared bishop, and f rook, aren't effective. and his queen and dark squared bishop are not enough to do much - my queen is there.

 

Advice 2 was talking about move 40.g4 and forwards - where I had to push two pawns, not one, in order to get a pawn to g6 - and this was still quicker than his promotion...
