200+ points losing streak

Hi all,

So, I'm on this losing streak now and I wonder how to change this.

I can't seem to focus on my games and I've developed somewhat of a tunnel vision.

Like a month ago I reached 1500 in blitz which for me was the peak and rather surprising as I was actually quite happy with 1400-1450.

However, something happened and I feel like I lost the ability to view the positions calmly and analyze them. On top of that when I lose I quickly go on tilt and I start chasing wins, rather than play well. Then I lose a few in a row. It kind of looks like gambling at this point.

How do you guys get out of this type of situation?

this happens to everyone, especially when youre tilted😂.I would recommend to play slower rapid games and analyze them with the comp. You should also start to creat plans for each side during the game, like 'Ok, my central pawns are pointing to Blacks kingside and most of my active pieces are placed there, i have space advantage etc., so i should try to get active on this side of the board. My opponent has more space on the queenside, so he will try to counterattack there, open lines for the rooks etc. ' Then you look if your plan is faster than his( than ignore his plan), or if you have to interrupt his plan first etc. Mindsets like this will help you a lot.

Take a break.

The worst thing you can do on a losing streak is keep playing. The frustration inside of you increases the likelihood that you will make a move without completely analyzing the position. Just stop and go do some puzzles or something.

You should play Rated games when you are energetic and play unrated games when you are tired. It will help for sure.

edgaredgar28

uh im noob but im sure it has to do with something mental and if you keep playing like this its just gonna get worse and worse because you get demotivated

@horselover123 Yeah man. It's exactly like you say. Reflecting back - it was the obvious thing to do, yet at that moment, I was so caught by the idea of "points, get them back"...

@DarkKnightAttack I actually don't play unrated at all. Didn't even know this option existed happy.png

I am on dieting for past month and have poor sleep pattern and have lost 250 points. so ,yeah, sleep and nutrition do matter i guess. After I get back to normal after my weight cutting period, lets see.will post again.

It doesn't really matter if you lost 100 or 200 points and you don't have to stop playing and take a break .all you have to do is try to get your head straight and try not to blitz out your move blindly cause at the end if you are really good and improve your chess overall the rating will definitely come
