800 to 1200 on the fence for the summer

I’ve successfully helped a handful of 800 rapid players last summer get to 1200+ (high as 1700).  If you are sincerely interested; I may take on the project for this summer?

Only  English and Sicilian aspiring players need to apply as this is a rock and roll group.

Yes it’s free.

Lol. You guys are 1500+ players.

May be unrated practice 5/5 or 15/10 games if you want to run an English and Sicilian theme. I also enjoy the East Indian Game against d4 if that is your taste.

I used to play the English when I was about 1000. After that it seemed to trouble me. I kept making a hole on d4 and I couldn’t figure how to stop a knight from landing there. Good times…

I switched over to the English from the Kings Gambit when I crossed 1200.

The English is very flexible and has many transpositions to where you want to steer the game.

With regards to the d4 square, I have been preparing the Reversed Katalimov Sicilian and getting into a hybrid Nimzo-Larsen Attack. This has e3 in the move order and flexible enough to double Fianchetto if you decide to flip the script for light square dominance. The added bonus is no pawn weaknesses for the end game with f4 as a surprise option (that Kings Gambit side of me still exists).

The Reversed Taimanov works well especially against the Reversed Bowdler Attack.

I think if you are a Sicilian Enthusiast than the English is a natural exploration and you will also gain an appreciation for the Sicilian ideas with the luxury of two tempii.

My goals are to play for the enjoyment and playable positions.

Still, accepting applicants?  I'm attempting the English and I finished like one lesson on the Sicilian.

Oh, and I recently stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel in Nevada, that's got to count for something 😅

Wow, your doing alright!

I haven’t been to Sin City in while but I like to think I got it all out of my system. Some how I retired from poker for chess?

Yeah, if you are interested.

I have a handful of playing partners on the go and they have already experienced immediate results of +100 points after two weeks of training. The irony is the playing range bracket starts from 500 up to 1700, weird. My wall is 1900 FYI.

It doesn’t have to necessarily be the English and Sicilian play but it is preferable as that is what I was taught.

My claim to fame is that I have a blue print from being coached by 1900 FIDE female and 2300 USCF player at one point .
