I'm brand new here and, admittedly, not a particularly accomplished player - the kind of player who can beat most of his friends but loses to anyone who has done any study.
I was wondering how the rankings here work when you first join up. I've been playing the computer and engine, and usually winning, when it's rated at 800-1100, but my in game ranking has been sitting between 400 and 500.
Is this just because so many people are joining up and there's a bit of congestion at that point, or should I take the CPU rankings with a grain of salt. Thank you
It is the latter; take CPU rankings with a grain of salt. They simply play differently compared to human opponents, and it's a little foggy on how they designated the ratings to the bots.
