AskViznik #1: Improving for Beginners!

Hello all,
My name is Viznik! I love playing chess, and helping others. I was able to improve my blitz rating from a measly 198 rating all the way to over 800... now quickly approaching 1000!

I’m no grandmaster, or even a “chess master” by any means. But what I am is a beginner who pulled myself out of low ELO hell, and along the way learned a looooot of things that I feel can help other newbie beginners do the same!

So, if you’re a beginner struggling with beginner-like issues, this is your opportunity to ask away! I will answer with how I improved from your exact dilemma or position, and hopefully you can use my insight from being in a similar situation as you are now to get yourself better!

This is not Grandmaster level advice, but at your level you don’t need to be focusing on 15-move variations and gambits, rather, having the issues and questions you have NOW solved!
