I don't know if there is an opening to that you can as black that is great to play no what white plays. Partially because white can open with a number of moves, and almost any of black's responses will have to be tailored to it at least a little bit.
Also at your skill level learning specific openings is not the most useful. It is much more important that you learn the opening principles, and be able to apply them in every game consistently. That will help you no matter what opening you play or your opponent plays. You will also have play moves that are not a "book" move for the opening because most of the people you play right now won't know the opening, or how to play against it. Here are some articles for the openings: https://www.chess.com/article/view/the-principles-of-the-opening
Also two other things you should focus on:
Tactics: This is the most important one right now because it will help you in all aspects of the game. It will help you prevent dropping pieces, and being able to spot opportunities to take pieces. Not just in the opening. This will also help you build your ability to calculate ahead also. The puzzles and puzzle rush on here are great to help you learn tactics. Here is an article that has the definitions of all tactics (although you only need to focus on the common ones for now, not all 38 of them (fork/double attack, pins, skewers, and discovery): https://www.chess.com/article/view/chess-tactics
Basic Endgames: What I mean by this is that you should know how to checkmate you opponent with two queens vs king, two rooks vs king, queen and rook vs king, king and queen vs king, and king and rook vs king. You should be able to do this even under time pressure. You may know some of these already, but this help you finish out won games.
Hope this helps
Hi! I've been mostly learning the London as a beginner to open games when playing White. Is there an opening for Black that is best in terms of versatility no matte what opening White plays? Is it King's Indian? I need to develop a beginner strategy when playing Black. Appreciate the help!
