Best books for beginners?

Hi!

When I get into something, I tend to go all over the place randomly learning lots of information from different sources, and obviously missing a ton of things I should know. I'd really like to start learning chess properly, and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good book (or series of books) that would start from the absolute beginning. I'd prefer a physical book because I spend so much time on my computer that I'd much prefer doing something offline if that's an option.

I'm VERY new and really need something that will start from the most basics just to make sure I don't miss something important. (For example, I went into an in-person class a few weeks ago, and was taught about doing the most forcing move - check, capture, threat....and it absolutely blew my mind.) Aside from knowing the basics like how the pieces move, I've gone through a few of the video lessons here, and I've been doing puzzles a lot for fun. I've been averaging around 1550 for that, which I know doesn't mean much for puzzles. But I can't seem to get much higher than that, which isn't good lol.

I don't need a book that teaches how the pieces move, but aside from that, it should start at the most basic and build up.

Thanks so much!
