Best chess books?

I am sure this has been asked (and answered) many times before - but do people have suggestions for what they consider to be the best books for studying/enjoying chess?

As there are specific books for openings/tactics/strategy/endgames, that people may have specific favourites for each category?

Thanks in advance

You will always be able to get a book on chess with openings,
middle and end games that you have to play to learn them properly.
This book THE EIGHT is the best book to keep you entertained from the
beginning to the end and you feel that you are in it.
It is about a search for a chess service that has mystical power.
It has many of the old chess master in the novel.

That is the first book. It was written twenty five years ago.

She has a newer book that also follow this one. . . FIRE . . . But it sucks!

Paperbacks sell at a very low price and they are also at the local library's. IMHO

The best book that will last you chess life is . . . Endings never change.

Opening come and go, Variations change.

Depends. Depends on your skill level. Depends on how serious you are about studying. Depends on how much time you plan on committing to studying on a daily basis. Depends on how much speed chess you play. If all you play is speed chess then serious study will be useless, as you won't be giving yourself time to think and implement what you're learning into your games.

Fred Reinfeld’s Complete Chess Course is a standard. It has sections on all aspects of the game. It is a great instructional book for newcomers up through those rated about 1500.
