Bishop Knight Pins

When a bishop pins a knight to the king or queen, how do you tell if the bishop should take the knight?

The basic idea I have is that, if it’s my bad bishop, take the knight because I’m gaining a stronger piece. If their good bishop is attacking my knight, kick their good bishop with my pawn.

Is there more to this or do I generally have the right idea?

If they can replace the knight with knight after you take it, its not good  play bishop back there. If they are black and have played b6 there dont give your bishop too early cause you will need it in defence. And taking knight is ok if its  theory or you have a fixed plan

generally you have the right idea. the good bishop/bad bishop idea is ignored when you're up in a lot of material like a queen. if you are up a rook- queen feel free to take a knight even with a good bishop
